Das Saison-Ende naht und ab dem 25.1.2010 können alle iRacer wieder ohne Druck der Meisterschaftspunkte an der beliebten 13th-Week teilnehmen, wo lediglich das Safety-Rating und iRating bewertet wird.  Mit dem SpecRacer Ford sowie dem Legends Ford `34 Coupe sind zwei offizielle Serien am Start.

Triskadekaphobie – oder was?
Doch bleiben dort sicher die Fahrer fern, die mit der 13 eine Unglücksnummer verbinden und zur Gruppe der “Triskadekaphobiker” gehören. Mit der Angst sind allerdings mehr Menschen ernsthaft belastet, als man zunächst annehmen würde. Doch zurück zum Thema.

SpecRacer Ford und Legends Cup offizielle Serien
Die beiden Rookie-Fahrzeugklassen werden offiziell als iRating bewertende 13th-Week-Serien abgehalten und dienen als letzte Chance zum Leveln für Rookies. Insgesamt müssen zwei Rennen oder vier Time-Trials absolviert werden, um aufzusteigen.

IZOD? IndyCar!
Eine der heiß erwarteten Fun-Serien in der 13th-Week ist das Dalara Indycar.
Auf einem Oval- und einem Road-Kurs darf dann der Dalara zeigen, was er kann. Die Formelrakete schafft 240 mph und kann dies auf den Strecken von Indianpolis und Watkins Glen Boot (fast) voll entfalten. Auf jeden Fall ist dies ein hochgeschwindiger Spaß, dem sonst offiziell nur A-Lizenz-Inhaber bzw. B-Lizenz-Fahrer über Safety-Rating 4.0 geniessen dürfen.  Wir wünschen euch viel Spass mit diesem Geschoss!

Yes, it’s that time again: Week 13. It’s a bad time for those who have an irrational fear of the number 13 – a disorder known as triskadekaphobia. For the rest of us, however, it’s a great time, a time for some to cast aside worries of points races and championships, iRatings and safety ratings and just go racing for the fun of it. For others, Week 13 offers a golden opportunity to “upgrade” those Class D, C and B licenses before the start of 2010 Season One.
 
The two official series in Week 13 are continuations of the rookie road racing and oval series, the SpecRacer Ford Challenge and the Legends Cup. As with all official series, both the Safety Ratings and iRatings count. Thus competitors have the opportunity to increase their license ratings prior to the official license promotions in time for Season One. Likewise, rookies who have yet to complete the category-specific minimum participation requirements necessary for graduation (two official races or four time trials in each category) have one last chance to do so.
 
The unofficial (aka “fun”) series is, oddly enough, entitled the IZOD IndyCar Fun Series. In keeping with the versatility that is the hallmark of the IZOD IndyCar Series itself, the Fun Series will be half road course and half oval, with the road course being Watkins Glen (boot) and the oval being, what else but, the fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
 
Official or not, the object of Week 13 is fun, with a dash of self-help thrown-in for good measure. Just don’t tell the triskadekaphobics out there.
