Starting next month iRacers will be able to participate in the iRacing World Tour, a series of same-weekend virtual versions of more than a dozen of the world’s top motorsport events. Beginning in January with the Grand-Am Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway’s road course, and then continuing with the Daytona 500 in February, the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring in March, and including the Indianapolis 500 and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, iRacing has scheduled a total of 14 events ranging from American short-track classics to Formula One and Australian V8 Supercars. The series concludes in November with the running of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series finale at Miami-Homestead Speedway.

Wir suchen ab sofort Fahrer für Einsätze im VR LFS Langstreckenpokal und eventuell andere Ausdauer-Ligen. Hintergrund unseres Angebotes ist die kommende Saison des VR LFS Langstreckenpokals, der im Februar beginnt. Die Teilnahme für diese sonst beitragspflichtige VR-Liga ist kostenlos im Rahmen unserer Team-Meldung.

VR LFS Langstreckenpokal 2010
Der VR LFS Langstreckenpokal wurde 2009 novelliert und zu einem Team-Pokal umgestaltet. Somit war die Bahn frei für Fahrerwechsel und Teamspirit im Liga-Betrieb der VR. Speziell für den Langstreckenpokal wurde sogar die Nutzungsbedingung für die Teams geändert, um auch VR-Externe in die Liga einzuladen. Solange ein Beitragszahler im Team fährt, brauchen Externe keine Nutzungsgebühr für die sonst beitragspflichtige VR-Liga bezahlen. Insgesamt fünf Rennen über Distanzen von mindestens 6 Stunden stehen auf dem Programm. Die Liga endet ca. Mitte Juni 2010. Weitere Informationen werden auf der Webseite des Virtual-Racing e.V. (siehe Link) mitgeteilt.

TEAMSPORT-ONLINE
Gegründet wurde TEAMSPORT-ONLINE vor fast drei Jahren und hat sich seitdem im Virtual-Racing e.V. einen Namen gemacht. Mit mehr als 40 Titeln in Team- und Einzelfahrer-Wertungen sind wir national erfahren und verfügen über erfahrene Teamfahrer, die insgesamt mehr als 1200 Stunden Langstrecken-Erfahrung besitzen. Das Team ist im Altersdurchschnitt rund 26 Jahre mit 16 bis 49 Jahre in der Verteilung. Geografisch sind wir in NRW in der Nähe von Oberhausen anzutreffen, haben aber auch Fahrer in Stuttgart, Berlin oder auch in der ausserhalb Deutschlands in der Schweiz. Natürlich spielt dies bei einem Sim-Racing-Team keine übergeordnete Rolle, da wir täglich im Teamspeak der VR anzutreffen sind. Dort pflegen wir auch einen sehr freundschaftlichen Kontakt zu anderen Fahrern in den unterschiedlichsten Bereichen.

Wie kann ich mit Euch in Kontakt treten?
Ganz einfach. Einfach eine E-Mail an Mika Radmer senden mit Daten zu Eurer Person, Erfahrungen im SimRacing- oder Real-Racing-Bereich (falls vorhanden), bevorzugte Fahrzeuge in LFS sowie Liga-Engagements. Wir melden uns auf jeden Fall bei Euch und laden zu einem Trainingsrennen ein, wo Ihr Euch auch praktisch vorstellen könnt.
Speziell hier haben wir mit Volker Dudziak einen VR-Admin, der Eure Fahrleistung im Rahmen der VR-Lizenzisierung begutachtet und die Tauglichkeit sowie das LP-Potential bewertet. Als VR Rookie-Cup-Admin ist er aber nicht nur zum Bewerten da, sondern fungiert bei uns im Team auch als Anleiter und stets freundlicher Helfer in Sachen Training, Setup und Langstrecken-Betreuung. Ihr seid also bei uns bestens aufgehoben, auch wenn ihr vielleicht noch keine oder nur wenig Langstrecken-Erfahrung gesammelt habt.

Das Saison-Ende naht und ab dem 25.1.2010 können alle iRacer wieder ohne Druck der Meisterschaftspunkte an der beliebten 13th-Week teilnehmen, wo lediglich das Safety-Rating und iRating bewertet wird.  Mit dem SpecRacer Ford sowie dem Legends Ford `34 Coupe sind zwei offizielle Serien am Start.

Triskadekaphobie – oder was?
Doch bleiben dort sicher die Fahrer fern, die mit der 13 eine Unglücksnummer verbinden und zur Gruppe der “Triskadekaphobiker” gehören. Mit der Angst sind allerdings mehr Menschen ernsthaft belastet, als man zunächst annehmen würde. Doch zurück zum Thema.

SpecRacer Ford und Legends Cup offizielle Serien
Die beiden Rookie-Fahrzeugklassen werden offiziell als iRating bewertende 13th-Week-Serien abgehalten und dienen als letzte Chance zum Leveln für Rookies. Insgesamt müssen zwei Rennen oder vier Time-Trials absolviert werden, um aufzusteigen.

IZOD? IndyCar!
Eine der heiß erwarteten Fun-Serien in der 13th-Week ist das Dalara Indycar.
Auf einem Oval- und einem Road-Kurs darf dann der Dalara zeigen, was er kann. Die Formelrakete schafft 240 mph und kann dies auf den Strecken von Indianpolis und Watkins Glen Boot (fast) voll entfalten. Auf jeden Fall ist dies ein hochgeschwindiger Spaß, dem sonst offiziell nur A-Lizenz-Inhaber bzw. B-Lizenz-Fahrer über Safety-Rating 4.0 geniessen dürfen.  Wir wünschen euch viel Spass mit diesem Geschoss!

Open to iRacers World-Wide, Virtual Version of Grand-Am Season Opener Features Riley XX Daytona Prototype on Exact Digital Duplicate of Daytona Road Course BEDFORD, MA (January 20, 2010)

As the green flag waves at 3:30 p.m. EDT to start the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, hundreds of iRacing members will be just winding down from their own participation in a tribute 2.4-hour (144-minute) virtual-racing version of the twice-around-the-clock endurance classic. The first event on the 2010 iRacing World Tour, the Rolex 2.4 is open to all iRacing members and features an exact visual and functional duplicate of the Riley Mk XX Daytona Prototype that has dominated the Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series.

“One thing all iRacers have in common is their wide-ranging interest in the sport,” said Steve Myers, iRacing’s executive producer. “The iRacing World Tour gives our members 14 opportunities to take part in virtual renditions of some of the most famous and popular events on the global calendar. The Rolex 2.4, inspired by one of the signature sports car events in the world, is a great way to get started. Just as the Rolex 24 draws drivers from different disciplines and from around the world, our own Rolex 2.4 will provide fun head-to-head competition for iRacers all across the globe and from both oval and road-racing disciplines.”

Myers noted that the iRacing system was able to accommodate thousands of entrants by dividing them into multiple iterations of the race, sorting them according to their performance ranking in the iRacing system. Starting time for the Rolex 2.4 is 12:00 noon EDT (17:00 GMT.) Qualifying begins Sunday, January 24, (00:30 GMT), with new qualifying sessions every hour on the half hour. Those who fail to post a qualifying time will start at the rear of the field.

“Everyone gets to race with others of similar ability, so everyone has a reasonable chance to win,” Myers explained before noting that one enthusiastic iRacing member wouldn’t be able to participate. “Alex Gurney is a very active iRacer, but he’ll be on the physical Daytona road course, driving an actual Riley Mk XX as he and Jon Fogarty begin the defense of their 2009 Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series title, with help at Daytona from Jimmie Johnson and Jimmy Vasser.”

Myers also noted that in the future iRacing would offer endurance races with multiple drivers and pit-stop driver changes. “We wanted to start out with something a bit more straightforward,” he said. “Two and a quarter hours is a long enough stint for a single driver. In the future we expect to have longer races with teams of drivers taking part. We think it will be cool to give our members from all around the world, who’ve gotten to know each other through iRacing, the chance to form their own teams and share cars. But we’re taking it all one step at a time.”

The post-race results will list the top three finishers in each race split. Also, 24 race participants will be chosen at random as recipients of $24 iRacing credit awards.

“On February 9th online racing competition commences with the first event of the inaugural 18-race, 39-week NASCAR iRacing Drivers World Championship. This series will feature the 50 top-rated drivers currently racing in iRacing’s Pro Series and will include NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., who recently clinched entry into this elite series.

Selected races from the series will be carried over the internet on iRacing.com. Weekly iRacing news coverage and standings will be featured on NASCAR.com and inRacingNews.com.

NASCAR and iRacing have worked together since the announcement of the partnership in 2009 to refine the structure of the series, establish a “sporting code” or rule book, as well as develop an identity for the series.

NASCAR CEO/Chairman Brian France announces the NASCAR iRacing Series. 

While entry for the NASCAR iRacing Drivers World Championship is limited to the top 50 drivers, iRacing will also host five NASCAR amateur series open to all NASCAR fans through membership in the iRacing.com online service.

Just below the World Championship series, the 2010 NASCAR iRacing Pro Series is reserved for the 250 top-ranked oval-track iRacing drivers and commences in May to determine eligibility to participate in the 2011 NASCAR iRacing Drivers World Championship.

“Bill France Jr. was ahead of his time when he initially had the vision of an online racing series. Thanks to evolving technology NASCAR fans can virtually compete at their favorite track and have their chance to end up in a victory lane,” said NASCAR Senior Vice President Paul Brooks.

The NASCAR iRacing Driver World Championship will feature the top-50 iRacing oval drivers. 

Tony Gardner, iRacing’s president, explained that iRacing’s staff has been busy fine-tuning the infrastructure and creating the organization that supports the vision of NASCAR online racing.

“We’ve created our online racing service for racers and fans,” Gardner said. “We’ve done the hard work to make it simple and easy for NASCAR fans to join iRacing and get behind the wheel. You don’t have to be a computer engineer to do this. PC owners with a broadband connection only need to purchase an inexpensive wheel-and-pedal set from their local consumer electronics store or online. In an hour, they can be racing. It’s that simple. Everything an aspiring racer needs to know to get started is on our Web site, at www.iracing.com.”

The opportunity for NASCAR fans to have extremely affordable but highly meaningful racing careers of their own will become a reality with the launch of these NASCAR-sanctioned amateur online racing series organized and hosted by iRacing.com.

Featuring four 12-week seasons each calendar year, these series feature modifieds, late models, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series trucks, NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars and mirror the skill ladder that NASCAR athletes typically follow, beginning with short-track racing and proceeding through virtual versions of the three premier real-world NASCAR series.

Bei TSO hat der schnelle Neu-Bochumer seine erfolgreiche Karriere gestartet. Nach dem Gewinn der 8. VR LFS Masters gab es keinen Fahrer mehr, der ihn stoppen konnte. Dabei bevorzugt Fabian lieber die Formel-Fahrzeuge und berichtet als Reporter von Motorsport-Total.com (ehemals adrivo.com) von der DTM. So konnte er die Eindrücke als Reporter mit in die virtuelle Welt übertragen und ist hier ein Star, wie die sonst von ihm interviewten Größen wie Bernd Schneider (keine Verwandtschaft) oder Klaus Ludwig.

Gekommen war er zusammen mit Teamkollege Timo Dell, mit dem er zusammen das A1-Team gegründet hatte. Durch die Neugründung bei TSO sowie den ersten Top-Fahrern Maikl Drescher und Lars Moldenhauer kam auch Fabian Schneider 2007 zum Rennstall aus Oberhausen.

Die Zukunft liess Fabian offen. Da er durch den engen Kontakt innerhalb der VR nicht mehr die Notwendigkeit für ein Team sah, kündigte er bereits im November sein bevorstehendes Ende im Team an. Und legte sich nochmal kräftig ins Zeug und verabschiedete sich hier mit dem 4. Masters-Titel.

Wir danken Fabian für die tolle Zeit und Unterstützung sowie die Treue zum Team auch in schwierigen Zeiten und wünschen ihm für die kommenden Ziele, ob privat oder beruflich oder auch virtuell, viel Erfolg und eine Menge Spass.
